Happy New Year

Hope everyone has a happy and healthy new year!!!

Black & Deep Poppy

29 December 2012

Hello All!! Yesterday was a gorgeous day so, naturally, I couldn't wait to get outside to take these pics! I wore this outfit to a birthday celebration for my hubby. We went to a nice restaurant to enjoy a great dinner with some amazing friends. For the occasion, I paired this J Crew skirt in deep poppy with a black and cream silk blouse and a black cardigan. This skirt definitely made an otherwise ordinary outfit pop! I scored this skirt a few weeks ago during a sale. I found it on clearance for $24.99 plus an additional 30% off!! I don't have many bright bottoms in my closet so I was super happy when I found this in my size. I love color and the harsh, cold winter months have never deterred me from wearing colorful brights. This skirt is the perfect addition to my closet and even though it's bright, it's surprisingly versatile. It can be paired with neutral colors or, if you're bold, other brights. I chose to go the neutral route for it's debut but will definitely try some other colors in the future. I see this skirt becoming a staple in my closet. Bye, bye boring black and gray!

Kudos to my husband for snapping these great pics!! He's getting better with his new camera already!

Wine & Navy

23 December 2012

Hello All! It's been so long! I must say blogging is a lot harder than I ever imagined. My main issue is finding a good time to take pictures, especially here in New York. The past few weeks have been so cold and gloomy. Not to mention that it starts getting dark at 4:30; that's hardly enough time to take pics when you work all day. It has rained the past few weekends, so I was uber excited to get out and take a few pics yesterday morning before heading out for some last minute gift shopping. I wore a silk ruffled blouse in wine with my favorite navy cardigan. Pairing it with jeans made this outfit casual and the pink necklace gave the outfit a nice pop of color which, unfortunately, you can't see in these pics. We're expecting a sunny week and I'm on vacation, yah!!!! So there should be a lot more pics to come..

Stripes & Gingham

03 December 2012

Stripes and gingham, what a pair!! Two of my favorite combos together in one outfit; it just doesn't get any better than that! I paired a red & blue striped sweater with a blue & white gingham shirt, jeans and riding boots. The look is super casual but still put together. The patterns are unexpected, yet, they work so well together. I can't wait to try this combo again with other colors!

Purple, Stripes & Floral

26 November 2012

There's a lot going on with this outfit but somehow it works. Well, atleast in my mind it did. My amazing hubby surprised me with this awesome purple (my favorite color) peacoat from J Crew. He said he picked it up as a christmas gift but couldn't wait to give it to me since he knew I would love it. I was so excited, I think I made have did a happy dance!! Of course, I started wearing it immediately and you would be surprised how versatile it is. Today, I paired it with a gray striped shirt (this is becoming a pattern), beige cords, a floral scarf, cognac ballet flats and a simple necklace. The entire outfit is from J Crew, minus the scarf which is Target.

What I Wore: Black Watch & Navy

24 November 2012

Hello All! So, I wore black watch & navy for Black Friday! I was first introduced to the black watch pattern by my husband. He loves anything black watch: blazers, ties, shirts, socks. He even has a black watch card holder! I'm in love with this black watch scarf, which belongs to my hubby.  It's 100% lambswool and super cozy! I paired it with my absolute favorite wool navy blazer, a blue oxford shirt and orange loafers. With these classic pieces, you can't go wrong! I'm now on the hunt for a black watch skirt. Any ideas? Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!!

What I Wore: Black & Tan Stripes

23 November 2012

So, if you haven't noticed already, I have a slight obsession with stripes!! I'm really not sure when it began but I'm just drawn to them. Striped tees, striped sweaters, bags, scarves, you name it! So of course, when I spotted this black & tan striped 100% merino wool sweater for $24.99 in Marshalls I just had to have it. And at $24.99 it was a no brainer. I love, love this sweater!!!! The quality is great and it has buttons on the shoulder, which I'm not sure you can make out in these pics. My original plan was to wear it with leggings and black riding boots but I opted for black skinny pants and my favorite leopard flats instead. This is what I wore to work on Monday. I really loved this outfit and had to share.  Anyone else obsessed with stripes???

What I Wore: Gray & Soft Peach

Hello!! Yesterday, I spent a wonderful Thanksgiving with my family. Here's what I wore to dinner: a long sleeve striped t-shirt, corduroy skirt in soft peach, gray booties and a bold statement necklace. I love this skirt so much that I bought it in three different colors. Pairing it with a simple tee created a great balance with the bold necklace. I originally wanted to wear light gray tights and then I realized that I didn't have any, lol! So, instead of running out to the store to buy a pair, I wore brown tights and I actually think it worked even better with this outfit. The tights really made my gray booties stand out. Hope everyone (in the USA) is enjoying their holiday weekend! I'm still debating if I really want to go out to shop in the Black Friday chaos...

Wardrobe Remix: Burgundy Cords

12 November 2012

My friends and coworkers often tell me that they never see me wear anything twice. What I say to them is that I do wear things twice just rarely in the same way. I'm always thinking of different ways to pair my tops and bottoms and I would never buy anything unless I can think of atleast three ways to wear them. So as I've mentioned before: I really love these burgundy cords that I scored at 40% off from the Gap Outlet. So much so that I've already worn them twice. Two weeks ago, I wore them with a gray stiped tee, puffer vest, pearl necklace, and nude flats. Today, I paired them with a mustard colored sweater, scarf and the same nude flats. What I love the most is the versatility. I can't wait to come up with more outfits.

What I Wore: Mustard & Burgundy

Another gorgeous day in New York! Here's what I wore for a day of running errands. I paired a mustard colored sweater with my new fave burgundy cords. I just love these two colors together!! The colors just popped and I added a scarf to pull the outfit together. Who knew Target had such a great selection of scarves?! I recently picked up 2 for $14 each. Gotta love Target!!

What I Wore: Chunky Sweater

11 November 2012

Here’s what I wore for a day of fun in NYC with my hubby. It was a cool Autumn day so layering was key. This chunky sweater is one of my favorite pieces in my closet. I paired it with an oxford button up, gray skirt and ballet flats. I would have preferred to wear heels, and own a pair of gray booties that would have went great with the outfit, but chose comfort over style.

Can I just say that I'm sooo into cords right now!! I picked these up recently from the Gap Outlet and couldn’t wait to wear them. I paired a gray & beige striped tee and a neutral puffer vest with the burgundy.  I love the way they hit right at the ankle, it's very flattering. I want to pick up a few more in some really cool bright colors. Hopefully, I can snag a few on sale during the holiday season. Is anyone as into cords right now as I am?
